This weekend we have the "Run for the Toad" happening at Pinehurst Lake Conservation Area, just outside of Cambridge. Yes, it has sold out, and a LONG time ago at that... even though Peggy and George (the race directors) raised the participant capacity by two-hundred people or so. But even if you didn't make it under the wire, dear friends, this event is still something you should really check out - starting tomorrow (Friday) at noon, the tent-city expo opens up (as does race kit pick up). There will be all sorts of dealers and manufacturers there to answer any questions or sell any gear that you might have or want. I will be present and giving out free high-fives. Come to the Runners' Choice booth (as we ARE one of the primary sponsors, you know) and tell me that you got this e-mail... and receive one (1) complimentary up-high (or down-low, if preferred) palm-to-palm slap. We'll also have a bunch of clothing going for 50% off and sales on shoes and stuff... as well as a smattering of the latest and greatest, just to show off... and sell if you really want it.
Then on Saturday, the main event kicks off (after a bagpipe-led parade) at 9:00 AM sharp. The racers are in for a gruelling 25 or 50 km run through a VERY challenging course (which I can attest to, having been eaten alive by the race last year) and could really use your support. Come and scream yourself hoarse at these laboring souls and help them slog through. It's largely the spectators that make this race such a popular event, and they flock out in higher numbers every year. Count yourself among them, won't you just? Unless you're running... then, well... you can just run.
