My dearest friends: there comes a time every spring (and it seems to happen earlier and earlier with each passing year) when we witness a good number of people cursing themselves for having missed out on the opportunity to take part in one of the most highly anticipated races of the fall season. Granted, it does seem kind of crazy that one must register for a race that happens on October 3rd in April and May, especially seeing as how the participant limit has been raised every year, but that's what happens when an event gets this popular…
…but that's Run for the Toad for you.

It's your last chance to grab a spot for one of the premier North American races this year. There are only seventy five (that's 7-5) spots left!! Run for the Toad is the event for keeping up with trail technology and landing the kind of relationship building you want to employ for your sport. The race is expecting about 3000 people(!!) to attend the redesigned Expo opening Friday October 2nd through race day October 3rd. This is very exciting and will benefit both the ultra trail veterans and those shorter distance runners/walkers looking to expand their knowledge and get immersed in this fantastic scene!! If not racing, come join the line-up of high turn-out spectators that attend the race - it's the cheering and support that see so many athletes finishing with smiles on their faces.

The Toad has become an important personal challenge from the Elite Runners' standpoint, too, and it's closely linked with the Provincials and National Cross Country Championship race being held in Guelph Ontario November 28, 2009, thanks to the benchmark of fitness associated with the challenge. There is no doubt that it is demanding, and there are very few souls who finish it without feeling like they've truly accomplished a remarkable feat. The bulk of the racers (runners and walkers) attending this year are proud of their accomplishments in making the Toad the push of ones ability!!
