That's it. Just like that. Don't say I didn't warn you: the fall season's premier trail race has sold out. Congrats and good luck to everyone who made it in - it's now time to start training your little hearts out. This is a big, tough (and AWESOME) race. The thing to do NOW is to tell all of your family members and friends to mark it down on the calendar and get set to enjoy the stellar atmosphere of this fun and friendly event.
We've finally, FINALLY figured it out... you wouldn't think it'd be such an ordeal to figure it out... but there you have it. May 25th is it. 6:00pm. Try it; you'll like it. This ever-popular group is designed to inspire and instruct beginners interested in getting into the sport, using a walk-and-run format, and by the end of the eight week program most are able to run a full five clicks without stopping. We have a great coaching team and a through-the-roof success rate. If you're interested, give us a call at the shop or send us an e-mail to get on the interest list...
My dearest friends: there comes a time every spring (and it seems to happen earlier and earlier with each passing year) when we witness a good number of people cursing themselves for having missed out on the opportunity to take part in one of the most highly anticipated races of the fall season. Granted, it does seem kind of crazy that one must register for a race that happens on October 3rd in April and May, especially seeing as how the participant limit has been raised every year, but that's what happens when an event gets this popular…
…but that's Run for the Toad for you.
If you are in the mood for an intense, body-hardening, gut-wrenching, mind-blowing workout, we might just have the thing for you: personal Trainers Sarah Brown and Tiff Dejak have invited y'all out to a free boot camp, beginning May 6th and happening every Wednesday at 6:00. Meet at the shop and run to your training grounds where they plan to work you into the ground, doing exercises that use nothing more than your own body weight. This program is probably not for beginners, and CERTAINLY not for slackers. Plan on being hhhhhhhhwhipped into shape lickety-split. It'll hurt.
There is, dear friends, an extremely popular race on the horizon in the only semi-distant future: The Waterloo Classic 10K!! We at the Choice have traditionally done a clinic for this race to help hone training techniques and maintain motivation in the weeks leading up to it... and this year will prove no exception. Come join us and learn from the experience of our coach and seasoned running veteran Joanna Fedy. It'll begin on May 7th and will happen every Thursday at 6:00pm until the race on June 21st.
Dry trails!! WAHOO!! THIS means that we're goin' TRAIL running!! In fact, our trail running group began last night, and will continue to happen every Tuesday night at six until such time as it is deemed too flippin' cold and miserable to keep it going in the fall. The group meets in the parking lot behind Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary School (which is on the corner of Erbsville Road and Laurelwood Drive) and dives headlong into the challenging network of trails that begin there.
Hi everyone!! Here's the scoop for our Easter weekend hours: we'll be closed all day Friday and then reopen for Saturday (the regular 9:00am - 6:00pm gig)... then on Sunday we will be open at 8:00am for our run group ONLY, not selling anything, and then will be closing shop at noon sharp. So again - Sunday morning run group is on, but everyone will have to be back before 12:00pm if they're leaving anything behind in the store. Have a fanTASTic weekend!!
Well friends, our latest beginners' running clinic is drawing to a close, and we're set to gear up for the next one!! We've been dithering back and forth as to when the precise date would be, but now finally have it set: March 23 (our apologies for having the wrong date posted before). We figure everyone will be back after a nice relaxing March Break, free of the kids once more and ready to hit the roads as winter fades to spring.
That's it!! I've had it!! I'm choosing to ignore this unrelenting winter weather and busting out all the recently-received spring clothing that we have hiding away. We're going to FORCE the warm weather. BUT... in order to do this... we're going to need to clear the store of most or ALL of our winter apparel, and have chosen to do so by having a blow-out sale on all the cold-weather gear. 40% off. All of it. Down to the last mitt. So let's strike a deal, shall we?
There's been a lot of talk and speculation about the plan to have our little plaza torn down and rebuilt with a luxury-condo high-rise on top. The developer's requests have been approved by the city, and it looks like things are going to move forward. What does that mean for us here at the shop? Well, everyone in our strip is going to be forced to relocate at least temporarily some time this spring or summer (depending on how quick things start happening). Some have read this to mean that we might be closing - that is certainly not the case...
